HUDSON BIRD DOGS – PUPPY PURCHASE AGREEMENT & HEALTH GUARANTEE
This agreement is between Hudson Bird Dogs ("Breeder") and the undersigned Buyer for the sale of a Labrador Retriever puppy.
At Hudson Bird Dogs, we are committed to raising sound, capable, and well-rounded Labradors that carry strong instincts, steady dispositions, and a genuine desire to work. Each dog in our program is carefully selected for structure, drive, and temperament, and our puppies are raised with purpose and plenty of daily hands-on attention. When you purchase a Hudson Bird Dog, you're getting more than a puppy — you're joining a family that takes pride in every dog we produce.
Guarantee Coverage This puppy is guaranteed to be free of the following hereditary defects up to 26 months of age:
- Hip Dysplasia (moderate to severe, OFA certifiable)
- Elbow Dysplasia (moderate to severe, OFA certifiable)
- Hereditary Eye Defects (as diagnosed by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist)
- Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) and Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM) – guaranteed not affected by parent testing
If the puppy is diagnosed with any of the above and the conditions below are met, Hudson Bird Dogs will refund the original purchase price or offer a replacement puppy, at our discretion.
Guarantee Conditions
- Diagnosis must be made before 26 months of age
- Diagnosis must be confirmed by two veterinarians, one of which will be chosen by Hudson Bird Dogs
- Dog must not be overweight or have suffered trauma (e.g., jumping from high surfaces)
- Dog must be maintained on a high-quality, balanced diet – poor nutrition increases the risk of skeletal problems and voids this guarantee
- Dog may not have been bred
- All documentation must be submitted within 30 days of diagnosis
- The dog must be owned by the original Buyer
Initial Health Guarantee Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health for 15 days after pickup. Puppies are examined by our veterinarian, microchipped, and vaccinated before going home. Buyer agrees to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours. If a life-threatening health condition is discovered during this time, the puppy may be returned with written veterinary documentation.
Puppy Health & Parasites Our puppies are raised in a clean, safe environment and are dewormed every two weeks as part of their routine care. Despite these precautions, it's common for puppies to carry or contract internal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, coccidia, or giardia, especially during times of stress like weaning or transitioning to a new home. These conditions are treatable and not uncommon in young dogs. Please note that internal parasites are not covered under this health guarantee. We recommend having your veterinarian perform a fecal exam during your puppy's initial wellness visit and following any necessary treatment protocols.
Return Policy If you are unable to keep your puppy for any reason, we will always take them back. Refunds are not guaranteed unless related to a qualifying health issue, but we stand behind every puppy we place.
Right of First Refusal If the Buyer cannot keep the dog at any point, Hudson Bird Dogs must be contacted. The dog may not be rehomed, transferred, or surrendered without first giving us the opportunity to reclaim or assist in rehoming. Our dogs' well-being is our responsibility for life.
